Dental Extractions

What Are Dental Extractions?

As the origin of that charming saying, “pulling teeth,” dental extractions, or tooth extractions, are just that - the removal of teeth. Whether there’s been damage to the tooth, significant decay or disease, or the need to remove your Wisdom teeth, extractions can be a necessary part of restoring your dental health.

Do you need a tooth extraction?

At Dane Dental, we consider ourselves to be conservative practitioners. That means we’ll always prioritize saving your tooth and only recommend removal if it’s absolutely necessary. That being said, there are situations where extractions are the answer to eradicating pain and restoring your smile.

What To Expect

Your Consultation

To ensure that dental extractions are the right treatment option for you, we’ll start with a consultation. We’ll perform an oral exam followed by taking x-rays of your jaw to address your concerns and identify any potential issues.

Your Custom Treatment Plan

If after your consultation we’ve identified extractions as the right step, we’ll discuss your treatment options. Not every extraction method requires surgery. We are comfortable and confident with oral surgery and are able to take out teeth that require it. However, we’re also able to remove teeth more simply depending on what’s best for your situation. At times, extractions may require stitches and post-operative instructions are always given.

Let’s Get You Scheduled!

It may take several weeks for you to recover from dental extractions. After your procedure, we’ll give you detailed aftercare instructions on keeping the areas clean, taking any prescribed medications, and which foods and activities you should avoid.
