Dental Implants

What Is A Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a surgically-placed prosthesis that can heal with your bone to help support dental crowns, bridges, and dentures. Because an implant is placed into the bone, it works as a secure, long-lasting alternative to a real tooth root. Second only to your natural dentition, dental implants are the best option for natural-looking teeth and restoring your ability to chew.

Is A Dental Implant Right For You?

Dental implants are an excellent option to rectify missing teeth and restore the smile.

They can provide ideal support in a number of dental scenarios including:

  • Replacing a missing tooth (or teeth).

  • Replacing a missing tooth (or teeth) and supporting a dental bridge.

  • Supporting full or partial dentures.

  • Eliminating the need for dentures entirely.

What To Expect

Your Consultation

To ensure that dental extractions are the right treatment option for you, we’ll start with a consultation. We’ll perform an oral exam followed by taking x-rays of your jaw to address your concerns and identify any potential issues.

Your Surgical Plan

If after your consultation we’ve identified extractions as the right step, we’ll discuss your treatment options. Not every extraction method requires surgery. We are comfortable and confident with oral surgery and are able to take out teeth that require it. However, we’re also able to remove teeth more simply depending on what’s best for your situation. At times, extractions may require stitches and post-operative instructions are always given.

Your Healing Process (Osseointegration)

Although healing from the surgery typically takes 1-2 weeks, your new dental implant will need 4-6 months to permanently connect with the bone. This process is called “osseointegration.”

Creating And Placing Your Prosthetic

In a series of follow-up appointments, we’ll assess how you’re healing and take impressions of your implant and teeth. These impressions will be used to create your implant tooth. When your implant tooth is ready, we’ll insert it on top of your new implant and send you on your way. You’ll be eating and smiling in no time!

“WOW. I am petrified of dental procedures. After 10 years of avoiding the dentist I went to Dane Dental 2 days ago for a cleaning and they were amazing. No pain at all. Today I had to go in for a root canal and I was petrified. I almost canceled twice. They were so gentle and loving. They used some cream to numb my mouth and I didn’t feel anything, not even the shots. I recommend this clinic!!!!”
