What Is A Root Canal?
Root canal therapy, or endodontics, is a procedure for treating chronic tooth pain, sensitivity, and infection. With this procedure, we alleviate your pain by removing the affected nerve inside of the tooth, sealing up the space, and fitting it with a protective crown.
If you have signs of tooth infection, significant cavities, or are experiencing severe tooth pain, you might need a root canal. If left untreated, these issues can lead to more serious problems like infection or losing teeth. As a routine procedure, a root canal can be the answer to maintaining your overall dental health.

What To Expect
Your Consultation
To ensure that a root canal is the right treatment option for you, we’ll start with a consultation. We’ll perform an oral exam complete with x-rays to properly identify the issue. If we’ve determined that root canal therapy is the appropriate treatment, we’ll help to schedule your procedure.
Your Root Canal Procedure
We’ll start by numbing the affected area to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure. Next, we’ll remove the infected nerve from inside the tooth, clean the area to remove bacteria, and seal off the cleaned space.
Because a root canal removes the nutrients and blood supply to your tooth, it can leave your tooth brittle and at risk for fractures. At an appointment following your root canal procedure, we’ll prepare your tooth for a dental crown to ensure it’s protected.
Aftercare
After your procedure, we’ll give you detailed aftercare instructions on keeping the areas clean, taking any prescribed medications, and which foods and activities you should avoid.
